Read more »It is not very clear that when this festival of 'Ganesh Chaturthi' started but it becomes a very major public event with the sponsorship of Shivaji after Mughal-Maratha wars and later on in the 19th century the freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak revived it in his tenure.
